Located just south of the Tropic of Cancer (22.15 deg N, 114.10 deg E),
Hong Kong's climate is regarded as sub-tropical, with temperature,
rainfall and humidity fluctuating throughout the year.

January and February tend to be rather cool (15-20 deg
Centigrade), with not much rain but a fair amount of cloud.
Around May time, the weather is starting to "hot-up", both temperature- and rainfall-wise.
From then until about August, the temperature can get as high as 35 deg Centigrade while humidity can occasionally reach 98
or 99 per cent. "Hot and sticky" is a phrase that describes Hong Kong at that time of year

August/September are times when typhoons can occur. Normally, Hong Kong gets one or two of these each year which are bad enough to keep people indoors.
By October and November, the temperature, rainfall and humidity have fallen to such levels that it can be an absolute joy to spend a day
outdoors. Most locals and visitors agree this is the best time of year to be in Hong Kong, with bright sunshine, gentle breezes and a relatively dry atmosphere.
